Last week, I attended the HRI (Human-Robot Interaction) conference held in Daegu, Korea. Since I started my Master’s program, I’ve been reading so many papers from this conference even after I changed my major to AI during PhD. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to attend this conference. But this time, it was in Korea! So I submitted a short paper and it was accepted as LBR (late-breaking report).

Well, it was smaller than other major robotics conferences, such as IROS or ICRA. But it was very interesting to see the works mainly dealing with HRI & HCI. Also, it was really nice to see how people approach this topic from different fields of study, such as design, machine learning, education, and social science. Some works reminded me of my previous works during my master’s. I think I kinda miss this field of study.

So I had a chance to present my poster - A Neurorobotics Approach to Investigating the Emergence of Communication in Robots. The study was about examining PEM (prediction error minimization) in the context of social interaction including human-human, human-robot, and robot-robot. Some people showed interests and I explained how we implement intention recognition with our model. I wish I delivered it clearly. I attached the paper and poster here.

I met some of my old friends and new friends. It was really good to see them again in the conference. And I also met OP3, the descendant of our beloved OP2. I gotta say, our OP2 is much more lovely :) I wish I can attend this conference again in the future.
